Q2: Time to Check- in
Pole Plus instructor, Electric Mouse Spotting an Ayesha regrip
Hello my pole babes and babies,
This month we are going to focus on tracking our growth and making sure we are on top of the goals that we set in the new year, and we are going to do that by talking about quarterly check-ins—what they are, what they entail, and how to include one as a regular stepping stone to growth.
A quarterly check-in is a committed and scheduled time to align ourselves with our vision for our pole journey. Earlier this year in January’s article, we talked about 5 ways to find your signature pole style. Let’s say this was your goal for the new year. During your quarterly check-in, you would set aside a specific time and date to analyze and ask yourself questions about where you are in your journey, where you hoped you would be by now, and where you would like to go next.
Are quarterly check-ins important? Imagine if you were training inverts for the year. How would you know how close or how far away you are if you didn’t take a second to pause, align, and move forward with more information? The importance of a check-in lies in alignment.
A quarterly check-in allows us to celebrate what we have accomplished, identify what still needs work, and adjust our goals with grace instead of judgment. Growth is rarely linear, and sometimes progress looks like stronger foundations, cleaner technique, more confidence, or simply showing up consistently.
During your check-in, ask yourself:
What goals did I set at the beginning of the year?
What progress have I made so far?
What has improved in my movement, strength, or confidence?
What has been more challenging than expected?
What support, conditioning, or recovery practices do I need to add?
Are my goals still aligned with what I want from my pole journey?
This is also the perfect time to celebrate your wins. Maybe you landed a new trick, improved your flow, became more comfortable being upside down, or simply committed to coming to class more consistently. Every step forward counts.
Quarterly check-ins are not about criticizing yourself. They are about honoring your journey, gathering information, and moving into the next season with intention.
So take a moment this month to pause, reflect, and celebrate how far you’ve already come. Your journey deserves to be witnessed by you, too.
With love,
F8
